What I am listening to, am interested in, reading, or studying now.

Crazy about singers Beth Orton, Rose Polenzani, and Poe. Rose has a wonderfully floating voice with a folk flair and hails from Chicago but has been seen of late in Massachusetts. To quote Request Magazine, "Polenzani's breathy, tremulous voice has a beckoning power more akin to that of a child ghost in a graveyard." Beth, from England, has worked with the Chemical Brothers and has a great mix of danceable songs and great lyrics. You may have hear her "She Calls Your Name" on the World Cafe. Poe's most recent album, "Haunted," is a psychological tour de force -- Poe's anguish-filled memories of her late father. It is a well conceived concept piece beginning with "Exploration B", creating feelings of uneasiness and trepidation, with Poe telling her mother, "Daddy died today." The song's title alludes to wanting to explore the depths of the unknown, as Poe does, by entering pain's door and dealing with her fears for the duration of the album.

I think that these are the most talented singer-songwriters out there right now by far

This new album by U2 is really good. All That You Can Leave Behind is a broad mixture of sounds and features a couple of absolutely flowing masterpieces. It is the summation of what many artists dream to attain - a crowning achievement late in their career full of depth and maturity.
